Chapter 1. Introduction
Each ThinkSystem SN850 compute node supports up to four 2.5-inch hot-swap Serial Attached SCSI (SAS),
Serial ATA (SATA) or Non-Volatile Memory express (NVMe) hard disk drives.
When you receive your ThinkSystem SN850, refer to the
ThinkSystem SN850 Compute Node Setup Guide
to
set up the compute node, install optional devices, and perform the initial configuration of the compute node.
Meanwhile, the
ThinkSystem SN850 Compute Node Maintenance Manual
contains information to help you
solve problems that might occur in your ThinkSystem SN850. It describes the diagnostic tools that come
with the compute node, error codes and suggested actions, and instructions for replacing failing
components.

Notes:
• The first generation Chassis Management Module (CMM1; 68Y7030) is not supported by the ThinkSystem
SN850 compute node.
• The second generation Chassis Management Module (CMM2; 00FJ669) must be at firmware level 1.6.1 or
above to support the ThinkSystem SN850 compute node. This applies to both CMMs that are installed in
the chassis.
• The illustrations in this document might differ slightly from your model.
Identifying your compute node
When you contact Lenovo for help, the machine type, model, and serial number information helps support
technicians to identify your server and provide faster service.
Record information about the compute node in the following table.
