4. Pull the TPM outward horizontally and remove it from the system board.

Carefully handle the TPM by its edges.

5. If you are instructed to return the old TPM, follow all packaging instructions and use any packaging
materials that are supplied to you for shipping.
6. Reinstall the PCIe card if you have removed it. See “Installing the PCIe card” on page 56.
To complete the parts replacement, go to “Completing the parts replacement” on page 95.
Installing the TPM
To install the TPM, do the following:
1. Prepare your server. See “Preparing your server in advance” on page 47.
2. If there is a PCIe card installed, it might block your access to the TPM connector. In this case, remove
the PCIe card. See “Removing the PCIe card” on page 56.
3. If there is an old TPM installed, remove the old TPM. See “Removing the TPM” on page 80.
4. Touch the static-protective package that contains the TPM to any unpainted surface on the outside of
the server. Then, take the TPM out of the package.
