9. Remove the two screws that secure the card reader to the bracket, and then slide the card reader

from the bracket.

Note:

Touch only the edges of the card reader. Do not touch the circuit board of it.

10. Align the new card reader in the card reader bracket and slide the card reader into the rail until it stops.

Then, install the two screws to secure the new card reader to the bracket.

11. Route the cable of the new card reader through the corresponding hole for the card reader bracket in

the front of the chassis.

12. Install the card reader bracket into the chassis so that the hole in the bracket is aligned with the

corresponding hole in the chassis. Then, Install the screw to secure the card reader bracket to the
chassis.

13. Reconnect the new card reader cable to the system board. See “Parts on the system board” on page 33.

14. Reinstall the storage drive. See “Replacing the storage drive” on page 51.

15. Reinstall the optical drive. See “Replacing the optical drive” on page 49.

16. Reinstall the front bezel. See “Replacing the front bezel” on page 48.

Replacing the front audio and USB assembly

Attention:

Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the Chapter

To replace the front audio and USB assembly, do the following:

1. Remove any media from the drives and turn off all connected devices and the computer. Then,

disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the
computer.

2. Remove the computer cover. See “Removing the computer cover” on page 48.

3. Remove the front bezel. See “Replacing the front bezel” on page 48.

4. Remove the optical drive. See “Replacing the optical drive” on page 49.

5. Remove the storage drive. See “Replacing the storage drive” on page 51.
