14.7 Inspection of the Red Laser Beam, for Builder R-, RM- and
RM power
General The red laser beam used for measuring is arranged coaxially with the line of sight of
the telescope, and emerges from the objective port. If the instrument is well
adjusted, the red measuring beam coincides with the visual line of sight. External
influences such as shock, stress or large temperature fluctuations can displace the
red measuring beam relative to the line of sight.

The direction of the beam should be inspected from time to time, because an exces-
sive deviation of the laser beam from the line of sight can result in imprecise distance
measurements.
