ETHERNET 1
The
ETHERNET 1
port can be used to connect devices to the POWER CORE control system. For example, to
remotely control POWER CORE via TCP/IP; connect other networked products; or update the system's firmware
or configuration.
The connection can be made either directly from a single device, or via a network switch to allow multiple device
connections. For example, you could connect one or more VisTool PCs or Ember+ devices.
Network Requirements
If connecting via a network, then this can be shared with other devices, such as in the regular "house network" of
a typical broadcast facility. Routers are permitted as long as the minimum requirements below are met. By
using routers, or similar devices, the latency of the communication will increase. The network
MUST
meet or
exceed the following requirements:
·
At least 100MBit/s
·
Full Duplex
Cable Type
For a direct connection, you will need a crossed network cable. For connection via a network switch, use a
straight (1:1) network cable. The cable should be STP-CAT 5 with RJ45 connectors.
When using a crossed network cable (direct connection), the “Use of a Proxy Server” browser option must be
deactivated. Otherwise access is prevented by looking for a “Proxy”.
Making the Connection
1.
Connect your remote device, either directly or via a network switch, to the
ETHERNET 1
port of POWER
CORE.
2.
To establish communication, configure the TCP/IP settings on your remote device - for example, if
connecting a VisTool PC, open the network settings for its Network Interface Card.
·
The
IP Address
must be unique, and set within the same range as that of the Lawo control system. The
default IP address of POWER CORE =
192.168.101.240
·
The
Subnet Mask
should be identical to that of the system. The default Subnet Mask is
255.255.255.0
For example, if your system is using the factory-default IP settings, then you could set your device's IP address
to 192.168.101.241
If connecting via a larger network, you may need to consult your network administrator to gain access to the
Lawo network from your device.
3.
The simplest way to test the network communication is to open the
