Winch
The custom Winch (Figure 8) supplied by Laval Underground Surveys (LUS) is manufactured for
operating LUS video camera systems in water wells, boreholes, etc. The Winch is driven by a
low speed, high torque electric motor (Figure 8 Item 1). Electric motor power sources for Winch
operation are 115V or 220V AC 60/50 Hz (specified at time of order) or an AC generator.
Winch speed and direction are controlled by the variable speed controller built into the Winch
Motor Controller (Figure 8 Item 2).
Counter-Sheave Assembly
A Counter-Sheave Assembly (Figure 8 Item 3) travels back and forth on a Lead Screw to level
the Cable as it winds onto the Spool. The sheave drives an electronic Encoder that provides
input for the footage counter display on the monitor.
