Video imaging
Problem: no video signal (image does not change when the illumination is changed)
Possible Cause
Resolution
problem with video
capture device
Ensure the correct capture device has been selected (go to
Video>Video
Capture Device…
)
•
StarTech capture device (SVID2USB2) is listed as: WDM2820 or
WDM2921
•
DP1
are listed as “StStream Capture” or under the optics
module name
•
DP5 modules are listed as DMM 33UX264 or DFM 33UX264
If your device is not listed, ensure that the device drivers are
installed and the capture device is plugged into a USB port on the
computer.
S-video cable not
installed (Analog Optics
Modules only)
Ensure S-Video cable is plugged into the SVM and connected to a
Video Adapter. Check each end of the cable to ensure the 4 pins
of the connector are intact.
S-video input not
selected (Analog Optics
Modules only)
go to
Video>Physical Input Connector...
and select S-video for the
input
Frame rate not set
(Digital Optics Modules
only)
go to Video>Frame Rate... and select a frame rate
optics module installed
incorrectly
The optics module has two pins to guide it into place and is held
to the SVM focus stage with magnets. Ensure that the module is
in place on the focus stage and that magnets are engaged.
not focused on target
If the optics module is not focused on an object it sometimes
appears that you are not getting a signal.
Incorrect image setting
or illumination
See description for “very dim video image” below
Problem:
video frame rate can’t be
set to maximum (DP5 Optics Modules only)
Possible Cause
Resolution
USB port is not USB3
The DP5 Optics Module needs to be connected a USB3.0 or
USB3.1 port for full resolution and frame rate.
Exposure setting is too
long
Go to
Video>Brightness/Contrast/Hue/etc…
> Cam33U Exposure
Controls
and adjust the exposure time to less than the desired
frame rate, or set exposure to auto.
