Crash-Survivable Memory Unit (CSMU) Removal
(See Figure 303 or IPL Figure 1, Item 120)
The Model FA5000’s CSMU is mounted to the top of the recorder chassis by (6) Flat-
head screws. It interfaces to the Main Processor (MP) PWA through the Memory In-
terface Cable assembly attached to the J
−
3 connector Main Processor PWA. The
CSMU is a sealed unit and must be returned to the factory for repair. If replacement
of the CSMU is required, proceed with the following procedure:
CSMU REMOVAL PROCEDURE
CAUTION: The following procedures must be adhered to so that no damage to the
CSMU memory cable or CSMU occurs. Do not let the CSMU drop after
the six screws (1
−
125) are removed.

Turn Recorder upside

down and support the CSMU underneath. Remove the
two screws (1
−
115) used to secure the CSMU cable cover plate (1-110) and re-
move cover plate.
