PI OPERATION WITHOUT A RECORDER
Portable Interface units with Mod Dot 4 installed are capable of stand alone functionality
(Simulated CVR Mode). In Simulated CVR Mode, power is supplied to the PI through the
Auxiliary Power Cable, P/N 17TES0074. While in Simulated CVR Mode the PI will operate
with only the file functions available. These functions include the ability to playback stored
FA2100 CVR data as well as performing file maintenance of the data stored on memory
cards.
In order to operate the PI in Simulated CVR Mode, power must be provided to the PI
through the Auxiliary Power Cable. This cable must be attached to the end of the recorder
interface cable originating out of the top of the PI. The Auxiliary Power Cable then needs
to be connected to an inactive 28 to 39 VDC power source. See Figure 7-1 for an example
of the typical bench set up required for Simulated CVR Mode.
