After the copy process has started, a progress screen (Copy Time Remaining) appears on the
PI that identifies what type of copy was selected and displays a countdown of the estimated
seconds remaining until the copy is completed (this time may countdown to zero and start
again at 1024). In most cases, the user will want the process to complete on its own. When
this happens, the screen returns to the Main Menu display. If the copy process encounters a
problem, the appropriate error message will appear on the screen (In version 1.0, the error
message appears for 5 seconds, and then the screen reverts to the main menu. In later ver-
sions, the copy error message will persist until the green MENU key is pressed).
6.6.5
Aborting the Copy Process
The copy process can be aborted before completion by pressing the green MENU key TWICE
IN RAPID SUCCESSION. To prevent someone from accidentally aborting the copy process,
pressing the green MENU key once will not abort the copy process.
CAUTION:
DO NOT attempt to remove the disk from the PC slot during the copy process.
This can corrupt the disk. If this should happen accidentally, take the disk to a PC and run
SCANDISK on it to correct any corruption. The power to the PI should also be cycled before
using it further.

STATUS/CONTROL MENU
This menu permits the user to view the status of the FDR. The user can also start and stop
recording from this screen. When recording is started, the screen will show the various phases
of the data locking process (SEARCH and LOCK) as they happen. Other fields on this screen
display the number of hours of data currently recorded on the FDR and the FDR’s fault status.
6.8
SPECIAL FUNCTIONS MENU
The user can select six options from this menu including Version ID, Set/Clear Test Conditions,
Delete file from disk, Display GMT/Rotor Speed, Dump Fault Log to file, and Dump Trace Mes-
sage to file. All of these operations are described in the paragraphs to follow.
6.8.1
Version ID
The user can select either of two options from this screen. If the user selects Version ID, a
screen will appear showing the software version identifiers for both the FDR and for the PI.
Observe that the FDR contains two software packages, Flight Data Processor (FDP) and Store
Management Processor (SMP). The version information for these are shown separately. The
user can only enter this screen if the FDR has recording turned off. Attempting to enter this
screen with FDR recording turned on will result in an error message.
6.8.2
Set/Clear Test Conditions Menu
The Set/Clear Test Conditions Menu allows the user to Set or Clear Fault codes or messages
generated by the FA2100 FDR fault detection system, clear recorder Fault History Logs, or
generate Fault Condition indications for testing purposes.
6.8.2.1
FDR Fault Detection Subsystem
If the user selects Set/Clear Fault, a screen appears for testing the fault detection subsystem
of the FDR. The user can position over any of the lines on this screen and press the SELECT
