5.3.8.3
Delete File From Disk
Selecting Delete File From Disk Brings up the File Deletion Menu. Enter the required
information (File ID, File Name, etc.) on the appropriate menu lines. Select DELETE.
The next menu will ask the question: “
ARE YOU SURE?
” which enables the operator to
cancel (No) or confirm the deletion (Yes).

Display GMT/Rotor Speed
GMT FSK data is output by the PI each time a new GMT value is available. The bit rate is
768 Bit/Sec
5% with the LSB transmitted first. Rotor Speed FSK Data is output by the
PI each time a new Rotor Speed value is available. For more detailed information refer to
paragraphs 5.3.3 And 5.3.4.
Selecting Display GMT/Rotor on the Special Functions Menu will display the Rotor Speed
data in frequency and the GMT Data in Hours:Minutes:Seconds (XX:XX:XX).

Fault Log To File
To perform this selection, a disk must be installed in the PI and the CVR cannot be record-
ing. If the CVR is recording, The PI will stop it. Selecting Fault Log To File on the Special
Functions Menu displays the Fault Log To File Menu. This Menu is shown on sheet 2 of
Figure 5
3. When this menu is entered, the operator must enter the name of the file to
which the fault log is to be written.
5.3.8.5.1 File Name Entry Field
There is a File name Entry Field (File ID) near the top of the menu. The rest of the menu
is taken up primarily by an array of selection characters. A cursor will appear over one of
them. The user can select characters by using the UP, DOWN, RIGHT, and LEFT arrow
keys to move the cursor. When the user presses the SELECT key, the chosen character
will be copied to the file id field. To remove character(s) from the file id field, the UP,
DOWN, RIGHT, and LEFT arrow keys are used to select each character and pressing the
red delete key removes the character from the field.
The File ID field Is

characters long. Only the first 8 characters are used in the file name
itself. Also, characters in the File ID that are not legal DOS file name characters will be
changed to zeros. But the entire File ID will be copied into the file id exactly as it appears
on the menu. The File ID is a field in the file header that can be recovered when the file is
analyzed.
5.3.8.5.2 Disk File Names
Fault Log file names written to the disk as a result of dumping the Fault Log have the file
extension of .FLT. If the file name chosen by the user is the same as the name of a file
that already exists on the disk, the is modified by replacing the last three characters with
digits to make the name unique on the disk. This change will not be visible when the user
is doing the copy, but will become evident when the disk is taken to a PC for analysis.
This substitution of digits in the file name makes it impossible to overwrite existing flight
data on the disk.
