CVDR Operation
The right and left arrow keys are FAST FORWARD and REWIND, respectively. Note that
both FAST FORWARD and REWIND have two speeds. The slow speed is at a rate of 10
seconds recorded time per second of real time. The fast speed is at a rate of two minutes
of recorded time per second of real time and is activated by pressing the LEFT or RIGHT
arrow keys twice.
The DOWN arrow key (END/BEGIN) does not have a tape recorder analog. This key will
position the recording either to the very beginning or the very end of the recording, and it
will toggle between these states if pressed repeatedly. The green key still returns the user
to the Main Menu. The red key brings up the Playback Control menu.

Playback Menu Displays
D
MODE : The playback mode (PLAY, STOP, FFWD, RWD, and END, BEGIN) is
displayed when selected at the remapped keypad keys.
D
POSITION : Displays position of the tape (in hours, minutes and seconds) from the
end of the recording.
D
ROTOR : Displays Rotor Speed FSK data in Hertz (Hz)
D
GMT : Displays GMT FSK data in Hours : Minutes : Seconds (XX : XX : XX)
Paragraphs 5.3.3 and 5.3.4 contain additional information on the GMT FSK and Rotor
Speed FSK data. A 1/8 inch jack (GMT/ROTOR FSK) on the right side of the PI provides
output monitoring of GMT FSK and/or Rotor Speed FSK data in FSK format (Figure 5
using the PI AUX Readout Cable Assembly, p/n: 17TES0052.

GMT FSK Data
GMT output data is displayed (in hours : minutes : seconds) on the following PI menus:

Can be selected from the Special Functions Menu.
GMT FSK data is output by the PI each time a new GMT value is available. The bit rate is
768 bit/sec
5% with the LSB transmitted first.
A “1” bit is represented by a frequency of 4193
30 Hz.
A “0” bit is represented by a frequency of 3607
30 Hz.
To ensure synchronization by ground based equipment, the input label (Bits 1
−
8) is set to
“0” and Bit 9 is to “1”. Bits 10 through 32 are output as presented by the FA2100 over the
GSE TDM bus, words 12 and 13.
The output signal has an output impedance of 20 ohms, maximum and a signal level of
2.45 Vrms +10% across a load impedance of 600 ohms.
