PI OPERATION WITH A FA2100 FDR
4.2
MAIN MENU
The PI is illustrated in Figure 4
2 illustrates the PI FDR menu structure. When
the P1 starts up connected to a FA2100 FDR configuration, the PI menu will show the following
options:
H
FDR: WORD MONITOR
H
SET MARKER
H
COPY
H
STATUS / CONTROL
H
SPECIAL FUNCTIONS
This is the Main Menu. [Note: At any time, the user can return from other screens to the Main
Menu screen by pressing the MENU (green) key on the PI front panel.] In the Main Menu, the
operator can move the highlight (cursor) among these options by using the up and down arrow
keys. When the highlight is positioned over a particular entry, that entry can be selected by
pressing the SELECT key. When a particular entry is selected, a new menu appears. The up
and down arrow keys have an additional function in the context of the Main Menu . The opera-
tor can use them to adjust menu contrast as follows:
1. To increase the contrast (darken the screen), position the highlight over top entry on the
menu and press the up arrow key.
2. To decrease the contrast (brighten the screen), position the highlight over the bottom entry
and press the down arrow key.
The contrast adjustment occurs in small increments, so the operator may have to press the
appropriate key several times to obtain the desired adjustment.
4.3
WORD MONITOR MENU
The Word Monitor Menu is available only if the FDR is locked onto a stream of input flight data.
If this is not the case, attempts to access this screen will result in the message, “
No FDR
data
”. Various reasons for getting this message are, FDR recording is off, no Flight Data Ac-
quisition Unit (FDAU) stream is coming into the FDR, or the FDR cannot sync to the FDAU
stream. (See Status/Control for FDR recording turn-on procedure.)
4.4
SET MARKER
The Set Marker function is used to set a memory marker when recording to mark the beginning
of a specific recording segment. The FA2100 allows up to 15 memory markers to be set. This
method allows the user to dump data from the recorder from the point of the last memory
marker or any specific memory marker that has been set.
