From this menu, the user can also view the Super frame Number and the Error Status of the
recorder.
3.6
SPECIAL FUNCTIONS MENU
The user can select six options from this menu including Version ID, Set/Clear Test Condition,
Delete file from disk, Display GMT/Rotor Speed, Dump Fault Log to file, and Dump Trace Mes-
sage to file. All of these operations are described in the paragraphs to follow.
3.6.1
Version ID
If Version ID is selected, a Version Menu appears showing the software identifiers for both the
CVR and the PI. Specifically, the PI firmware version number, CVR version, Storage Processor
(SMP) version and checksum are displayed. These displays allow the user to verify that the
proper firmware is being used for both the GSE PI and FA2100 CVR.
3.6.2
Set/Clear Test Conditions Menu
The Set/Clear Test Conditions Menu allows the user to Set or Clear Fault codes or messages
generated by the FA2100 CVR fault detection system, clear recorder Fault History Logs, or
generate Fault Condition indications for testing purposes.
3.6.2.1
CVR Fault Detection Subsystem
If Set/Clear Test Conditions is selected, a menu appears for testing the fault detection subsys-
tem of the CVR. The user can position the highlight over any of the lines on this menu and
press the select key to take the indicated action. When the user selects one of the Set/Clear
Conditions, the highlight will flash off, then on again to indicate that the selected action has tak-
en place.
3.6.2.2
Latched Fault Conditions
If the user clears a Latched Fault, the Latched Fault indication may continue. If this happens,
the condition that caused the Latched Fault is still present. The effect that this has had can be
seen by returning to the Status/Control Menu and observing the CVR Fault Status condition.
3.6.2.3
Fault History Logs
If the user clears the fault history, all stored fault information in the recorder is wiped out. This
allows the fault buffers to begin recording new faults. Note that once cleared, the cleared fault
information is unrecoverable.
3.6.2.4
Fault Indicator
If the user selects ON or OFF, the
fault indicator is forced to that state regardless of what fault
conditions may or may not exist. Doing this gives a force indication on the Status/Control
Menu. To release the forced condition, the user selects release at the Set/Clear Test Cndtns
Menu.
