3.
Reinstall the GH-3100 Indicator into the instrument panel and tighten down the mounting screws.
The indicator must be at the correct panel angle during calibration.
4.
Remove the magnetometer from the aircraft and install the MAT-3000A (or MAT-3100) in its place.
5.
Apply power to the GH-3100 Instrument System and wait approximately 3 minutes for the
“Aligning” message to disappear from the GH-3100 display.
6.
Fast Erect the GH-3100, wait approximately 3 seconds, and then momentarily depress the
Data
Entry button
, wait while the attitude compensation data is being written to the DCM-3100. When
prompted by the message on the Calibration Test Box display, remove power from the GH-3100
system.
The MAT-3000A (or MAT-3100) is calibrating the roll and pitch difference between the GH-3100
mounting in the aircraft and the MAG-3000 mounting in the aircraft.
7.
Remove the MAT-3000A (or MAT-3100) from the aircraft and reinstall the Magnetometer.
3.2.2.2.2 Heading Calibration
The following terms are being defined to limit confusion of their meaning during the heading calibration
procedure
•
Magnetic Heading: Any one of four cardinal or intercardinal headings located on a compass rose.
•
Actual Aircraft Heading: Direction of the longitudinal axis of the airframe.
•
Misalignment: The difference between the magnetic and actual aircraft heading.
NOTE
The GH-3100 Indicator heading display will be flagged during calibration.
1.
Apply power to the GH-3100 system and wait approximately 3 minutes for the “Aligning” message
to disappear from the GH-3100 display.
2.
Align the aircraft to a cardinal heading (i.e. north, east, south, or west). Up to 5
°
of aircraft
misalignment may be compensated for via the JT-147A. Figure 3-1 shows an example of an aircraft
on a compass rose.
NOTE
If a compass rose is not available the primary heading system in the aircraft
may be used. Be aware that the use of other aircraft heading references to
determine actual aircraft heading may result in additional system error.
NOTE
Ignore heading tape information at the bottom of GH-3100 Indicator display
until procedure is complete.
3.
Fast Erect the GH-3100 Indicator, wait approximately 3 seconds, and then momentarily depress the
Data Entry button
.
