mTenna Plus and mTenna Select Installation Guide
3.2 Check installation site requirements
Prior to installation, ensure you meet the following indoor and outdoor requirements:
Up to 7U of rack space
– see
4.3.1 Install the rack unit on page 5
for recommended rack configuration
Climate-controlled environment
– ensure proper ventilation to meet operating temperature conditions of 0 °C
to 50 °C
Conduits to ODU
– ensure sufficient conduit sizing for all RF and interface cables
Ensure sufficient rack space for all system components:
KyWay ODU – 2 to 4 units
mTenna I/O – 2 to 4 units
Gigabit ethernet switch – minimum number of ports is equal to number of ASMs + one port for the mTenna Plus +
one port for administration laptop
mTenna Plus – 1 unit
mTenna Select –1 unit
Modem – 1 unit
Power strip (8+ ports, surge protection) – 2 units

The number of mTenna I/O units is equal to the number of mTenna

ASMs.
3.2.1 Check electrical systems for safety
Prior to installation, do the following:
Ensure each KyWay ODU and mTenna I/O have a common ground.
Disconnect the electrical power from the modem and each mTenna I/O.
Connect each ODU to its mTenna I/O.
Connect the modem to each mTenna I/O.
Ensure the power switch of the mTenna Plus is in the off position before connecting electrical power to the modem
and to each mTenna I/O.
Practice basic electrical safety measures. Follow local, national, and other regulations with respect to these devices.
