Checking the coolant level in the radiator
Warning
Scalding hazard
During motorcycle operation, the coolant gets very hot and is under pressure.
–
Do not open the radiator, the radiator hoses or other components of the cooling system when the engine is hot. Allow the engine
and radiator to cool down. If you are scalded, hold the affected part under cold water immediately.
Warning
Danger of poisoning
Coolants are poisonous and a health hazard.
–
Avoid contact between coolants and skin, eyes and clothing. If fuel gets into your eyes, rinse immediately with water and con-
tact a doctor. Wash affected skin areas immediately with soap and water. If coolant is swallowed, contact a doctor immediately.
Change clothes that have come into contact with coolants. Keep coolants out of the reach of children.

Check the coolant level in the compensating tank. (

Jack up the vehicle on the center stand. (
–
Remove the front side cover. (
Only dismantle the right side cover.

Condition
The engine is cold.
–
Remove radiator cap
.
–
Check the coolant level in the radiator.
The radiator must be completely filled.
» If the coolant level does not meet specifications:
Coolant loss: < 0.50 l (< 0.53 qt.)
–
Check the cooling system for leaks.
