Check the wheel bearing for damage and wear.
» If the wheel bearing is damaged or worn:

Change the rear wheel bearing.
–
Clean and grease shaft seal rings 1 and contact surfaces A
of the spacers.
Long-life grease ( p. 110)

Insert the spacers.

Insert the wide spacer on the left in the direction of
travel.

Position the rear wheel and insert wheel spindle.
The brake linings are correctly positioned.

Mount the chain.

Position chain adjuster

on both sides and push the wheel
spindle in all the way.

Make sure that the chain adjusters are fitted correctly on the
adjusting screws.

Nut, rear wheel spin-
dle M14x1.5 40 Nm (29.5 lbf ft)

Operate the foot brake lever repeatedly until the brake lin-
ings are in contact with the brake disc and there is a pressure
point.
Finishing work
–
Remove the motorcycle from the lift stand. ( p. 39)
13.5 Checking the tire condition

Only mount tires approved and/or recommended by KTM.
Other tires could have a negative effect on handling characteristics.
The type, condition, and pressure of the tires all have a major impact on the handling characteristic of the
motorcycle.
The tires mounted on the front and rear wheels must have a similar profile.
Worn tires have a negative effect on handling characteristics, especially on wet surfaces.
