The twine brakes (1) for the lower twines are behind the packer under the bale channel. The
twine tension depends on the selected twine and must be checked. A twine tension that is set
too high may cause knotter errors and place too heavy load on the parts involved.
The factory setting applies for original KRONE twine with a running length of 100-130 m/kg.
If knotter errors occur when using twine with a different running length, the twine brake must be
set. In order to set the twine brake, contact KRONE Customer Service.
Factory setting dimension X=70 mm
Increasing tensioning force
The dimension X must be reduced via wing nut (2).
Reducing tensioning force
The dimension X must be increased via wing nut (5).

WARNING
Danger to life due to unintentional triggering of the tying unit
If the tying process is not locked to facilitate maintenance, adjustment and repair work on the
knotter, the tying process may be triggered unintentionally. Thus, there is a risk of serious
injuries or death.
In order to facilitate maintenance, adjustment and repair work on the knotter, always
secure the knotter shaft with the safety lever to prevent unintentional triggering of tying
process.
The knotter has been set and controlled by the manufacturer. It should work properly without
requiring any further settings.
If there are problems with the tying process during initial operation:
Do not adjust the parts immediately.
Check whether the parts are affected by paint damages, rust or rough spots.
Æ
Deficiencies like paint damages, rust or rough spots must have to be rectified.
Check whether there is rust protection grease on the twine retainers and knotters.
ð
If there is rust protection grease, it must be eliminated from twine retainers and knotters.
