22.12 Setting the single knotter

The twine pusher shaft (1) is tensioned or released by means of the spring (2).

The knotter gearbox is in idle position,

The flywheel brake is applied,
Tensioning the twine pusher shaft
In order to tension the spring (2), tighten the nut (3) until dimension
X= 220 mm
is measured
between the eyes of the spring.
Relieving the twine pusher shaft
In order to relieve the spring (2), unwind the nut (3) to the thread end of the eyelet bolt.

Setting the single knotter
WARNING
Danger to life due to unintentional triggering of the tying unit
If the tying process is not locked to facilitate maintenance, adjustment and repair work on the
knotter, the tying process may be triggered unintentionally. Thus, there is a risk of serious
injuries or death.
In order to facilitate maintenance, adjustment and repair work on the knotter, always
secure the knotter shaft with the safety lever to prevent unintentional triggering of tying
process.
The knotter has been set and controlled by the manufacturer. It should work properly without
requiring any further settings.
If there are problems with the tying process during initial operation:
Do not adjust the parts immediately.
Check whether the parts are affected by paint damages, rust or rough spots.

Deficiencies like paint damages, rust or rough spots must have to be rectified.
Check whether there is rust protection grease on the twine retainers and knotters.

If there is rust protection grease, it must be eliminated from twine retainers and knotters.

In order to avoid unintentional triggering of the tying process during maintenance, adjustment
and repair work at the knotter, the lever for initiating the tying process must be locked.
