This notice must be translated (possibly by the retailer), into the language of the country of use.
For your safety, comply strictly with the instructions for use, verification, maintenance and storage.
KRATOS SAFETY cannot be held liable for any direct or indirect accident occurring as a result of use other than provided for in this notice; do not
use this equipment beyond its capabilities! The user is responsible for the risks to which he is exposed. People who do not assume their responsibilities
should not use this product. Before using this equipment, you must read and understand all usage instructions in this guide.
USE AND PRECAUTIONS:
The energy absorber is a piece of personal protection equipment in accordance with EN 355:2002 ; it should be allocated to a single user (it can only be
used by one person at a time). The energy absorber consists of a single component with a controlled-tear strap and one or two lanyards depending on the
model. In the event of a fall, the controlled-tear strap (energy dissipater) deploys from inside its plastic cover, breaking the fall.
User safety depends on
the continuous efficiency of the equipment and a clear understanding of the instructions in this users’ manual.
Product markings should be checked periodically for legibility.
The absorber anchoring point must comply with EN 795 (R>12kN - EN795:2012 or R>10kN - EN795:1996).
For safety reasons, before each use, make sure that no obstacle can prevent the strap from unwinding normally.
One of the energy absorber ends is linked to a harness (EN361) fastening point (dorsal or sternal) and the other one to the anchoring point using
connectors (EN362).
Avoid use near sharp edges, thin structures or corrosion, for they may affect the energy absorber performance.
If the risk evaluation conducted before work begins shows that the product will likely be used above an edge, we recommend taking the proper
precautions to protect the lanyard.
Check that the overall arrangement limits the pendulum effect in the event of a fall and that work can be carried out so as to limit the risk and the height
of a fall. For safety reasons, it is important to be careful to minimise the distance and risk of falling while working. Whenever possible, we recommend
setting the anchorage point above the user.

these Kernmantle rope lanyards with energy absorber are specially
designed for withstanding sharp edges. When using the lanyard horizontally and/or near a sharp edge, it is imperative to connect the scaffold hook(s)

MUST
be connected to the attachment point of the harness, the
use the other way around is

[!] Lanyards without energy absorbers must not be used as fall arrest systems.
[!] An energy absorber with a lanyard and its connectors should not exceed 2 metres in length.
[!] A Lanyard with energy absorber up to 2 m must not be extended with other components (lanyards, …), it is ONLY possible to
add connectors at each end (provided that the lanyard is not equipped with connectors beforehand).
*
It is essential for safety reason to verify the clearance at the work place before each use and during use in order to be sure there
will be no collision with the ground or obstacle in case of fall. Take particular attention to obstacles in movement (for example truck,
mobile work platform, …).
For every single product of the range bearing the “i-beSafe system” marking, you shall find
information about the fall clearance and the clear distance under the work zone on our website
(
www.kratossafety.com) or by scanning this QR code with your smartphone:
During use, take care of the amount of slack in the lanyard near a fall hazard. When adjusting the
length of the lanyard, take care not to move into an area where there is risk of fall.
An energy-absorbing lanyard cannot be used choke hitched.
SPECIAL CASE:
The energy absorbing lanyards
FA 30 307 20, FA 30 404 15
(
DIELECTRI
range) must be
connected to the dorsal attachment point of the harness (EN361) through a lark head knot made with the end loop
located on the energy absorber side (see picture opposite).
Two separate lanyards, each with an energy absorber, should not be used side-by-side as a forked lanyard. The unused
end of the forked lanyard combined with an energy absorber should not be hooked to your harness, for the energy
absorber may not play its part in case of fall.
Before and during use, we recommend that you take every precaution necessary for an eventual safe rescue.
This equipment is for the sole use of people trained, skilled and in good health, or under the supervision of a trained and skilled person.
Warning!
Certain medical conditions may affect user safety. If in doubt, consult your doctor.
Be aware of the hazards that could reduce the performance of your equipment, and therefore the user’s safety, if exposed to extreme temperatures (<
-30°C or > 50°C), prolonged exposure to the elements (UV rays, humidity), chemical agents, electrical constraints, twisting of the fall arrest system
during use, sharp edges, friction or cutting, etc.
Check the condition of the energy absorbing lanyard before every use:
visual inspection to check the condition of the straps/ropes (no signs of cuts,
burns or abnormal shrinkage), the seams (no visible damage), the metal parts (no deformation or rust) and that the connectors work properly and the
absorber has not been activated. The transparent sleeve of the energy absorber must be present and not damaged. Product markings must remain legible.
In the event of doubt regarding the condition of the device, or after a fall, the energy absorbing lanyard must not be reused, should be withdrawn from
service (marking it with the words “DO NOT USE” is recommended) and must be returned to the manufacturer or to a qualified person appointed by
