4.2 Optional Finishing Trim
Kit (FTK): #C39-FTK
This optional finishing trim kit (included with the fireplace) provides
a 3/4" (19mm) finished edge (black metal) to allow a 1/2" finish board
and tile or stone to finish up against creating a shadow box for the
safety front.
Use this when finishing around the fireplace with tile or stone. Do not
use if you are finishing with 1/2" drywall or non-combustible only, as
it will leave 1/4" exposed.
Do not use with inside mount safety barrier C39-RSF2, where this
finishing trim kit is not necessary.
IMPORTANT: This trim kit must be attached before fireplace installation.
NOTE: This trim panel assembly should be installed with the stand-
off assembly, insulation piece, and header heat shields. Refer to
3.3, STAND-OFF ASSEMBLY AND HEADER HEAT SHIELDS
1. If installed, remove and discard the existing bottom front
frame portion.
2. Install the bottom trim panel with the flange positioned as
shown below. Insert the tabs on the trim panel into the slots on
the bottom opening of the fireplace.
3. If installed, remove the stand-off assembly, header heat shields,
and insulation piece.
4. Install the top trim panel. Align the holes in the top trim panel
with the front holes in the stand-off assemblies and attach to
the fireplace top. Place insulation back on top of the fireplace in
between the two stand-off assemblies. The insulation piece must
be pushed tight against the required non-combustible material.
Secure with the screws previously removed and included in the
components packet.
5. Reattach the lower header heat shield to the stand-off assembly
(8) screws.
6. If installed, remove the nailing flanges from the sides of the
fireplace.
7. Remove the side heat shields.
8. Install side trim panels, utilizing the existing screws from
the top and bottom sides of the fireplace. Install side heat
shields and nailing flanges after trim panels, using screws
previously removed.
9. Use screws included in the components packet to complete side
panel installation.
10. Position fireplace into rough opening before reattaching the
upper header heat shield. Attach the upper header heat shield to
the stand-off assembly with (8) screws.
