Memory
—The memory that comes with your printer and the default
memory optimization settings should be sufficient for typical print jobs;
however, in some situations you may need to change the memory config-
uration or add more memory to increase your printer’s performance. The
following describes situations that may benefit from additional memory or
changes to printer parameter settings.
For references to PageScope Light, see “Startup Options &
Resets” on page 236 for details. For references to your printer’s
control panel, see “Using the Printer Menu” on page 255 for a map
of the control panel menu.
–
PDF Direct Printing
PDF direct printing is supported only if your printer has an
installed hard disk.
If the majority of print jobs sent to your printer are PDF direct print
jobs, you may be able to increase your printer’s performance by
–
Changing the printer’s System Default/Startup Options/Optimize
PDL setting to For PDF. You can make this change at the printer’s
control panel or from the Memory Client Optimizations/Emulations
setting on the Configuration/Startup Options & Resets page of
PageScope Light.
–
Increasing your printer’s memory.
If complex PDF direct print jobs are common, you may need to
perform both of the above suggestions.
–
High-Resolution Print Jobs Using Letter/A4 Duplex or Legal Simplex
If the majority of your print jobs are configured for High or Enhanced
resolution using Letter/A4 media duplexed or Legal media simplexed,
increase the printer’s memory to 192 MB or higher.
–
High-Resolution Print Jobs Using Legal Duplex
If the majority of your print jobs are configured for High or Enhanced
resolution using Legal media duplexed, increase the printer’s memory
to 256 MB or higher.
