Setting up the interfaces to peripheral devices through a
LAN (Ethernet) port
To provide correct information, the TV80 system needs to communicate with external
devices. In order to communicate with peripheral devices, the computer offers several
serial and/or Ethernet (LAN) ports. In the
Select Input (LAN)
dialog box you can add a
new Ethernet connection and select the device you want your TV80 system to interface.
Prerequisites
• The TV80 software is installed on the Processor Unit.
• The relevant license string for the software is installed and activated.
• The new device is physically connected to the Processor Unit using an Ethernet cable.
• This procedures assumes that you are familiar with Ethernet communication, IP
addresses and the relevant User Datagram Protocol (UDP) parameters.
Context
Through Ethernet, the TV80 system can communicate with any peripheral device that
can benefit from the processed data. This interface will require the absolute identity of
the remote UDP port and the remote IP address.
Procedure
1
Connect the TV80 to the peripheral system using the Ethernet interface.
Note
It is very important that a high-quality Ethernet cable is used. You must use CAT-5E
STP (Shielded Twisted Pair) quality or better. Using cables with lower-bandwidth
capacity will reduce performance.
