Installing the WBT Power Supply

The power supply provided with the Wide Band Transceiver (WBT)is a commercial type
custom made for the ES80. A dedicated installation procedure is provided.

Prerequisites

A suitable location for the power supply must be defined prior to installation. If you place
the unit on the bridge, observe the compass safe distance.

You must be equipped with a standard set of tools. This tool set must comprise the normal
tools for electronic and electromechanical tasks. This includes different screwdriver types,
pliers, spanners, a cable stripper, a soldering iron, etc. Each tool must be provided in various
sizes. We recommend that all tools are demagnetized to protect your equipment.

Context

The power supply can be installed in many ways.

• You can mount it on a desktop using the brackets

provided with the unit.

• You can mount it on a bulkhead using the optional

wall bracket.

• You can mount it using any means available.

These points must all be considered to reduce
electrical noise on an ES80 system.

• If you more than one Wideband Transceiver

(WBT), install these in such a way that the
transducer cables have the maximum distance to the power and Ethernet cables.

• Ensure maximum physical distance between the Wideband Transceiver (WBT) and

the Power Supply Unit.

• Ensure maximum physical distance between each Power Supply Unit.

• If possible, install the transceivers in a sonar room that is electrically shielded.

• Make sure that all units are properly grounded.
