2.8.13 PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN WHEN 

HANDLING THE BATTERY AND THE 
ALTERNATOR

q

When repairing the electrical system, disconnect the battery in 
order to stop the flow of current.

IMPORTANT

q

Disconnect first the negative cable (–) and then the positive 
cable (+).

 

At the end of the operation, reconnect first the positive 
cable (+) and then the negative cable (–).

q

If electrical welding operations are to be carried out on the 
machine, it is necessary to disconnect the battery and also the 
alternator.

2.8.14 PRECAUTIONS CONCERNING THE 

STARTER

q

Start the engine only when correctly seated in the driving 
position.

q

Do not attempt to start the engine by causing a short-circuit with 
the terminals of the starter. This may cause fires, serious injury 
and even death in case of sudden or accidental movements of 
the machine.
