Method of Draining, Adding Coolant
6
WARNING
q
Immediately after the engine is stopped, the coolant is at high temperature. In addition, the radiator is
under high internal pressure. If the cap is opened under these conditions, it will cause burns. Wait for
the temperature to go down, then open the cap slowly to release the pressure.
q
When cleaning the cooling system with the engine running, set the lock lever to the LOCK position to
prevent the machine from moving.
q
For details of the procedure for starting the engine, see “BEFORE STARTING ENGINE (3-158)“ and
“STARTING ENGINE (3-189)“.
q
The Supercoolant is already diluted with distilled water, so it is not flammable.
q
Anti-freeze is toxic. When draining or adding Supercoolant, be careful not to get the mixture contain-
ing Supercoolant over you. If it gets in your eyes, flush your eyes with a large amount of fresh water
and see a doctor at once.
q
When changing the coolant or draining the coolant from the radiator before carrying out repairs, ask a
specialist company to handle any coolant containing antifreeze, or contact your Komatsu distributor.
Antifreeze is toxic, so never pour it into drainage water ditches or drain it onto the ground surface.
NOTICE
q
Please use Komatsu genuine supercoolant (AF-NAC) for the coolant. As a basic rule, we do not rec-
ommend the use of any coolant other than Komatsu genuine supercoolant.
q
For other details, see “CLEAN INSIDE OF COOLING SYSTEM (4-27)“.
