REPLACE HYDRAULIC OIL FILTER ELEMENT

WARNING
q
The parts and oil are at high temperature immediately after the engine is stopped, and may cause
burns. Wait for the temperature to go down before starting the work.
q
When removing the oil filler cap, turn it slowly to release the internal pressure, then remove it.
1.
Remove the cap from oil filler port (F) on top of the fuel
tank to release the internal pressure.
2.
Loosen 4 bolts, then remove cover (1).
When doing this, the cover may fly out under the force of
spring (2), hold the cover down when removing the bolts.

After removing spring (2), valve (3) and strainer (5), take
out element (4).

If there are any metal particles or foreign material at
the bottom of strainer (5) or the element case, please
contact your Komatsu distributor.

Clean the removed parts in flushing oil.
5.
Install the new element in the place where old element (4)
was installed.
6.
Set valve (3), strainer (5) and spring (2) on top of the ele-
ment.
7.
Set cover (1) in position, push it down by hand, and install
the cover with the mounting bolts.
NOTICE
q
After replacing the element, install cover (1) and
tighten mounting bolts (6) of cover (1) to the specified
tightening torque.
Tightening torque: 98 - 123 Nm {10.0 - 12.5 kgm, 72.3 -
90.4 lbft}
q
Do not use mounting bolts (6) more than 4 times. For
safety reasons, replace the bolts with new bolts. Even
if they have not been used 4 times, if the thread is
damaged, replace with new bolts.
8.
Install the cap of oil filler port (F).
9.
To bleed the air, start the engine according to “STARTING ENGINE (3-189)“ and run the engine at low idle for
10 minutes.
10. Stop the engine.
REMARK
Operate the machine after halting for more than 5 minutes to eliminate bubbles in the oil inside the tank.
11. Check for oil leakage and wipe off any spilled oil.
