SAFETY
PRECAUTIONS FOR OPERATION
2-25
q
If there are any persons in the area around the machine,
there is danger that they may be hit or caught by the
machine, and this may lead to serious personal injury or
death. Always observe the following before traveling.
q
Always operate the machine only when seated.
q
Before moving off, check it again that there is no per-
son or obstacle in the surrounding area.
q
Before starting to move, sound the horn to warn people
in the surrounding area.
q
Check that the travel alarm and other alarms work
properly.
q
If there is an area to the rear of the machine that can-
not be seen, position a signalman. Swing slowly and
be extremely careful not to hit any person or object.
Always be sure to carry out the above precautions even when
the machine is equipped with mirrors.
PRECAUTIONS WHEN TRAVELING
q
When traveling or carrying out operations, always keep a safe distance from people, structures, or other
machines to avoid coming into contact with them.
q
When traveling on the level ground, keep the work equip-
ment approximately 40 to 50 cm above the ground. Other-
wise, the work equipment may contact to the ground and
the machine may be turned over.
q
If the view to the right side is poor, raise the boom to
ensure better visibility.
q
For machines equipped with an auto-deceleration system,
always turn the auto-deceleration switch OFF when travel-
ing on rough ground or steep slopes. If the machine is
operated with the auto-deceleration system ON, the engine
speed will rise and the machine travel speed may suddenly
become faster.
q
Avoid traveling over obstacles when possible. If the
machine has to travel over an obstacle, keep the work
equipment close to the ground and travel at low speed.
There is more danger of the machine tipping over to the left
or right than tipping over to the front or rear, so do not
travel over obstacles which make the machine tilt strongly
to the left or right sides.
q
When traveling on rough ground, travel at low speed and
do not operate the steering suddenly. There is danger that
the machine may turn over. The work equipment may hit
the ground surface and cause the machine to lose its bal-
ance, or may damage the machine or structures in the
area.
q
When using the machine, to prevent personal injury caused by damage to the work equipment or by the
machine overturning due to overloading, do not exceed the permitted performance of the machine or the max-
imum permitted load for the structure of the machine.
