4.4 FUEL, COOLANT AND LUBRICANTS

Original Komatsu oils have been designed to ensure reliability and long life of the Komatsu construction equip-
ment and their components.
To keep machinery in the best conditions for a long time, it is essential to observe the instructions indicated in
this user and maintenance manual.

Failure to observe these instructions may entail a shorter useful life and excess wear of engine, transmissions,
cooling circuit and/or other components.
q
Lubricant additives available in the market may work, but they may also damage the machine. Komatsu recom-
mends any additive for lubricants normally available in the market.

Use oil recommended in the table below according to the room temperature.
q
The specified capacity indicates total amount of oil including oil contained in both the tank and pipes. Topping up
capacity indicates the amount of oil required to top up the system during checks and maintenance.
q
When the engine is started at temperature below 0°C, make sure to use multigrade oil, even if the room temper-
ature increases during the day.
