k
k
WARNING
• Immediately after the engine is stopped, its parts and oil are still very hot and may cause burn in-
jury. Wait for the temperature to go down, and then start the work.
• When removing the oil filler cap, the oil may spurt out. Turn it slowly to release the internal pres-
sure, then remove it carefully.
1.
Remove the cap of the upper part of hydraulic tank oil filler
port (F), and release the internal pressure.
2.
Loosen the bolts (4 pieces) and remove the cover assem-
bly (1).
The cover may jump out at this time under the force of
spring (4). Hold the cover down when removing the bolts.
REMARK
Leave the cover assembly (1) approximately 5 minutes
with the mounting bolts loosened so that the internal pres-
sure of the case is released and the oil in the element is
drained, and accordingly less oil drips when the element is
removed.
3.
After removing the strainer (3), take out the element (2).
If there is excessive metal powder or foreign material in
the strainer (3), contact your Komatsu distributor.
4.
Clean the removed parts by using the flushing oil.
5.
Install the new element in the place where old element (2)
was installed.
REMARK
Check at this time that the seat surface (both ends) of the
spring are flat.
Check that the seat surface are not lifted as shown in the
right figure (A).
6.
Set the strainer (3) onto the element.
7.
Set the cover assembly (1) in position, press it down by
hand, and install the cover with the mounting bolts.
8.
Install the cap of oil filler port (F).
9.
Start the engine and run it at low idle for 10 minutes to bleed air.
10. Stop the engine.
REMARK
Leave the machine as it is for at least 5 minutes, and then start the operation. This will remove the air bub-
bles in the oil inside the tank.
11. Check that there is no leakage of oil and wipe off any oil that is spilled.
