2. Loosen the alternator (2) fixing screws (3).
3. Loosen the locking screws (4).
4. Turn the set screw (5) to adequately tauten the belt (70-10
mm with a force of 58.8 N - 6 kgf).
NOTICE
When adjusting belt tension, do not touch the nuts (6).
5. Tighten screws (3) and (4).
6. Install the cover (1).
NOTICE

Check each pulley for damage, wear of the V-groove,
and wear of the V-belt. In particular, be sure to check
that the V-belt is not touching the bottom of the V-
groove.

If the belt is stretched and there is no allowance for
adjustment, or if it is cut or cracked, please contact
Komatsu distributor for replacement.

Soon after the machine has been stopped the engine is very hot and may cause burns; let the engine
cool down to 40-45 °C before carrying out any check.
q
The coolant used in the air conditioning system is very dangerous. If it is sprayed into the eyes or in
case of contact with the skin, it may cause blindness or frostbite. To avoid any explosion, do not
generate sparks and do not use naked flames near the air conditioner.
q
The adjustment of the belt tension is a mechanical operation and must be carried out without working
on the air conditioning system.
Checking the cartridge
1. Open the engine hood (1). (For details, see "ENGINE
COVER (3-84)").
