(1) Work mode selector
Use this button (1) to set the movement and power settings for
the work tool.
Using the appropriate mode for the job in hand makes
operation much easier.
q
P mode: for digging and loading/unloading operations with
maximum power and speed of movement.
q
E mode: for operations with low fuel consumption,
precision work, where speed of movement is not required
q
L mode: for lifting and positioning operations with
maximum control
q
B mode: for operations with the hydraulic breaker
q
ATT/P mode: for operations with accessories with double
action circuit, such as a crusher (machines provided)
q
ATT/E mode: for operations with accessories with double
action circuit, such as a crusher (machines provided, low
fuel consumption)
The mode displayed when the machine is switched on is the
last mode used before previous shut-down.
Press the button (1) to display the operating mode selection
screen.
Depending on the mode selected, the indicator at the top right
displays P, E, L, B or ATT.
On machines predisposed for accessories, the indicator also
displays the attachment mode.

For details on the correct loading lifting method see "LIFTING
OBJECTS WITH LIFTING DEVICE (OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT)
(2-47)" and "LIFTING OBJECTS WITH LIFTING DEVICE (3-
166)".
To change which of the modes available (P, E, L, B or ATT) is
selected automatically on engine start (setting optional default
mode), ask Komatsu distributor to change the setting.
ATT/P and ATT/E modes may be selected by changing the
attachment mode.
