METHOD FOR CLEANING RADIATOR FINS, AFTERCOOLER FINS, OIL COOLER
FINS, AND AIR CONDITIONER CONDENSER FINS

WARNING
• If the compressed air, high-pressure water, or steam hits your body directly or dirt is scattered by
use of it, there is a danger of personal injury. Wear the protective equipment such as the protective
eyeglasses and dust mask.
• Before cleaning and checking the fins, always stop the engine and check that the fan does not ro-
tate.
If you need to rotate the fan, always install the fan net and close the radiator grille to prevent the
contact with fan.
Perform this procedure if there is any mud or dirt stuck to the radiator.
METHOD FOR CLEANING FINS BY ROTATING COOLING FAN IN REVERSE
NOTICE
When rotating the fan in the reverse direction, beware extremely that dirt will not fly out and cloth, etc.
will not be wound in the fan.
Since dust may be blown up, check that there is no people around while the fan is rotating in reverse.
METHOD FOR ROTATING FAN IN REVERSE
NOTICE
• Even if the Fan Reverse Mode is set to reverse while the engine is running, the fan rotation direction
is not reversed. Stop the engine, and then select the fan reverse mode.
• The fan reverse rotation pilot lamp is lit on machine monitor while the fan is rotating in reverse. Do
not perform the operation while it is lit.
If you do so, the machine does not provide a good performance, and overheating occurs easily. The
normal rotation should be used always when operating the machine.
• For stopping the engine while the fan is rotating in reverse, reduce the engine speed to low idle,
then stop the engine.
• For performing the cleaning of fins by rotating the cooling fan in reverse, it should be after the oper-
ation or after warming-up the hydraulic oil.
The fan speed is kept low in order to protect the hydraulic circuit when the hydraulic oil temperature
is low. So it does not provide a good performance.
REMARK
Air generated by the cooling fan usually flows from the front side of the machine to the engine side.
When the fan rotates in reverse during cleaning, the air flows from the engine side to the front side of the ma-
chine, and blows away the dust in the fins.
1.
Place the machine on a level place.
2.
Set the parking brake switch to “PARKING” position.
3.
Stop the engine.
4.
Check that the fan rotation is stopped.
5.
Turn the starting switch to ON position.
