WARNING

Start the engine only after sitting down in the operator's seat.
q
Do not attempt to start the engine by short-circuiting the engine starting circuit. Such an act may
cause a serious bodily injury or fire.
q
Check that there are no persons or obstacles in the surrounding area, then sound the horn and start
the engine.
q
Never sue starting aid fluids as they may cause explosions.
q
Exhaust gas is toxic. When starting the engine in confined spaces, be particularly careful to ensure
good ventilation.
When starting in low temperatures, do as follows.
NOTICE
q
There is danger of breakage cause by snow or water
getting into the fan or fan belt and freezing. Check
around the engine before starting the engine.
q
Do not continue to crank the starting motor continu-
ously for more than 60 seconds under any circum-
stances. If the engine does not start, wait for at least 2
minutes, then repeat the procedure from Step 3.
q
If the engine is started with the fuel control lever at a
mid-range position or above, the engine will start up
suddenly, and this may damage the engine parts.
1. Before starting the engine, check that fuel control lever (1)
is at the low idling position.
2. Pull fuel control lever (1) to a position midway between the
low idling and full speed positions.
