2.8.13 PRECAUTIONS CONCERNING THE
BATTERY AND THE ALTERNATOR

When repairing the electrical system, disconnect the battery
in order to stop the flow of current.
IMPORTANT
q
Disconnect first the negative cable (-) and then the posi-
tive cable (+).
At the end of the operation, reconnect first the positive
cable (+) and then the negative cable (-).
q
If electrical welding operations are to be carried out on the
machine, it is necessary to disconnect the battery and also
the alternator.
2.8.14 PRECAUTIONS CONCERNING THE
STARTER
q
Start the engine only when correctly seated in the driving po-
sition.
q
Do not attempt to start the engine by causing a short-circuit
with the terminals of the starter. This may cause fires, seri-
ous injury and even death in case of sudden or accidental
movements of the machine.
