CHECK OIL LEVEL IN ENGINE OIL PAN, ADD OIL
WARNING
• Engine parts and oil are at high temperature immediately after the engine is stopped, and will cause seri-
ous burns. Wait for the temperature to cool down before starting the operation.
CAUTION
• When carrying out inspection and service inside the engine rear cover, always open the cover fully until
it is secured in position by the rod.
NOTE
• If the machine is at an angle, reposition it to level before checking.
When checking the oil level after the engine has been operated, allow the engine to cool for 15 minutes before
checking.
1.
Open the engine rear cover. For details, see section
"3.2.9 ENGINE REAR COVER".
2.
Remove dipstick (G) and wipe the oil off with a cloth.
3.
Completely insert dipstick (G) into the oil filler pipe, then
remove it and check the oil level.
4.
The oil level should be between the H and L marks on dip-
stick (G).
If the oil level is below the L mark, add oil through oil filler
(F).
IMPORTANT
• A blow-by reduction device is used.
Be careful not to let the lubricating oil level go above the
upper limit (H) mark when adding oil.
If the oil level goes above the upper limit, a large amount
of oil mist will be sucked into the combustion chamber,
and this will cause white smoke, oil hammer, or rapid ro-
tation.
5.
If the oil is above the H mark, drain the excess engine oil
from drain plug (P), and check the oil level again.
6.
If the oil level is correct, tighten the oil filler, then close the
engine rear cover.
