REMICA Remote Paging

Microphone Installation Sheet

Description

The VM

-

REMICA provides remote paging capability throughout a

building or campus. Each VM

-

REMICA has two inputs for connecting

other remote microphone units. The paging circuit supports up to

63 interconnected remote paging stations.

Installation

WARNING:

Electrocution hazard. To avoid personal injury or death

from electrocution, remove all sources of power and allow stored

energy to discharge before installing or removing equipment.

Caution:

Circuit boards are sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD).

To avoid damage, follow ESD handling procedures.

To install the VM-REMICA:

1

.

Remove the top retainer bracket on the back of

the

inner door on

the VM

-

RLCM remote annunciator

cabinet.

See Figure

 1

.

2

.

Loosen the nuts on the bottom retainer bracket.

3

.

Insert the VM

-

REMICA behind

the bottom retainer bracket,

and

then tighten the nuts on the bracket.

4

.

Reattach the top retainer bracket to the inner door

to secure the

top of the VM

-

REMICA.

5

.

Set jumpers JP1 and JP2 as follows:

Position A if AUDIO_OUT is connected to an EAEC

Position B if AUDIO_OUT is connected to another

VM

-

REMIC

Wiring

Wire the VM

-

REMICA as shown in Figure

 2

.

Notes

All wiring is supervised and power

-

limited.

Test

EOL resistors are installed on the remote microphone key

inputs

to prevent trouble signals during installation.

When

connecting field wiring to a next VM

-

REMICA, remove the

resistors

from pins 12 and 13, and 16 and 17

on

TB1.

Remote microphones

cannot be cascaded more than six deep on

a single circuit path.

Install a

1

.8 kΩ EOLR

when key

in is not used.

Testing

Note:

Additional hardware may be required to adjust the microphone.

To adjust the microphone:

1

.

After the system amplifiers are properly balanced, press the push

-

to

-

talk switch on the microphone. If you get feedback through the

system speakers, adjust the gain on the VM

-

REMICA until the

feedback is eliminated.

See Figure

 1

for the location of the gain

adjustment potentiometer.
