Immobilizer indicator
(if equipped)
Without e-key system
This light illuminates when the immo-
bilizer key is inserted and turned to
the ON position to start the engine.
If this light turns off or blinks when
the ignition switch is in the ON posi-
tion before starting the engine, have
the system checked by an authorized
Kia Dealer.
With e-key system
(if equipped)
If any of the following occurs in a
vehicle equipped with the e-key, the
immobilizer indicator illuminates,
blinks or the light goes off.
• If the ignition switch is in the LOCK
position, the e-key is recognized in
the vehicle, and you then depress
the brake pedal the indicator illumi-
nates for approximately 10 second.
However, if the engine is started or
the brake pedal is released within
10 seconds, the indicator will turn
off immediately. See page 4-5 for
more information regarding start-
ing the engine with e-key.
• If the e-key is not in the vehicle the
indicator blinks.
• When the ignition switch is in the
ON position, the engine has not
been started and the e-key is in the
vehicle, the indicator will illuminate
(until the engine is started), If the
e-key is not in the vehicle, the indi-
cator will turn off after blinking.
• When the ignition switch is turned
to ON position without the e-key in
the vehicle, the indicator light turns
off after blinking.
• Once the door opens and closes
with the ignition switch in the ACC
or ON position, the system checks
for the e-key. If the e-key is in the
vehicle the indicator illuminates,
but if it is not, the alarm will sound
for 6 seconds. The indicator light
will turn off in ACC position or it will
illuminate in ON position.
• When the ignition switch is ON and
the indicator turns off after 2 sec-
onds, the system may have a prob-
lem. Have the vehicle checked by
an authorized Kia dealer.
• When the e-key is not in the vehi-
cle or the battery is weak, the indi-
cator will blink and you will not be
able to start the engine. If howev-
er the battery is weak you may still
be able to start the engine by
inserting the e-key in the ignition
switch.
If e-key system related
parts have a problem the indicator
blinks.
