5. Remove the engine oil filter with
an oil filter wrench.
✽ ✽ NOTICE
Do not allow the oil filter gasket to
remain on the oil filter mounting
surface. This will cause oil leakage
and engine damage. Remove the old
gasket completely so that a new gas-
ket may be properly seated.
6. Use a clean rag to clean the oil fil-
ter mounting surface on the
engine.
7. Apply a small amount of engine oil
to the new oil filter O-ring seal.
8. Install the oil filter and tighten it.
(Refer to the oil filter caution label
for tightening instructions.)
9. Install a new washer on the drain
plug. Don’t use an old washer
repeatedly.
10. Replace the drain plug after the
oil has thoroughly drained.
Tightening torque

2.5L Engine :
3.5~4.5 kg·m
(25~33 lb·ft, 35~45 N·m)
■
2.7L / 3.0L Engine :
3.2~4.2 kg·m
(23~30 lb·ft, 32~41 N·m)
11. Remove the dipstick.
12. Refill the engine with new oil to
the F mark on the dipstick slow-
ly. Do not overfill.
13. Reinstall the oil filler cap and dip-
stick securely.
14. Start the engine and inspect
around the oil filter seal for leaks.
Stop the engine.
15. Check the oil level and fill to the F
mark as necessary.

CAUTION
When you refill the new oil
using a funnel, you should fill
the oil dividing it half and half.
Then, fill the first half, and the
other half after 1 minute.
