Description of the ecall in-vehicle system
Overview of the 112-based eCall in-ve‐
hicle system, its operation and func‐
tionalities: refer to this section. The
112-based eCall service is a public serv‐
ice of general interest and is accessible
free of charge.
The 112-based eCall in-vehicle system
is activated by default. It is activated
automatically by means of in- vehicle
sensors in the event of a severe acci‐
dent.
It will also be triggered automatically
when the vehicle is equipped with a TPS
system which does not function in the
event of a severe accident.
The 112-based eCall in-vehicle system
can also be triggered manually, if nee‐
ded. Instructions for manual activation
of the system: refer to this section.
In the event of a critical system failure
that would disable the 112-based eCall
in-vehicle system, the following warn‐
ing will be given to the occupants of the
vehicle: refer to this section.
