All of the USB ports are compatible with the USB 2.0/3.0 and 1.1 specification.
The three USB ports on the front panel (see graphic below) and three of the
USB ports on the rear panel are USB Series “A” ports. These are ports to which
you can connect USB mass storage devices and printers. The instrument USB
Host support includes the standard Microsoft Windows USB drivers for human
interface, mass storage, printing, scanning, and imaging devices. A complete
up-to-date list of the Windows USB class driver support is available on the
Microsoft website.
The square USB port (see graphic below) on the rear panel is a USB 3.0 Series
“B” port and is used for controlling the instrument over USB. Information to
help you program your instrument is documented in the X-Series
Programmer’s Guide. The instrument USB device driver included in the
instrument software supports the test and measurement industry standard
USBTMC-USB488 device class.
In addition, the IO Libraries CD that was included with your instrument
contains USB Host drivers that allow control of other instruments connected to
the USB ports.
Keysight Technologies does not support or warrant correct instrument
operation if additional USB drivers from third parties are installed in the
instrument. It is possible that additional drivers could break the normal USB
operation. If USB operation is broken, recovery would require reinstalling the
instrument application using the Instrument recovery process.
