Review Safety Information
This power supply is a Safety Class 1 instrument - with a protective earth terminal. This terminal must
be connected to earth ground through an AC mains equipped with an earth ground. Refer to the
page for general safety information. Before installation or operation, always review this
guide for specific safety warnings and instructions located at appropriate places throughout the guide.
SHOCK HAZARD, LETHAL VOLTAGES - Some models generate output voltages up to
2,000 VDC! Ensure that all instrument connections, load wiring, load and sense
connections are insulated using high-voltage wire. Always attach the safety cover
provided, so that no accidental contact with lethal voltages can occur.
Observe Environmental Conditions
Do not operate the instrument in the presence of flammable gases or fumes.
The environmental conditions for the power supply are documented under
Basically, the unit should only be operated indoors in a controlled environment. Do not operate the
unit in areas where the ambient temperature e55 degrees Celsius. This applies for rack-
mounting as well as for bench use.
Provide Adequate Air Flow
Do not block the air intake at the front, or the exhaust at the rear of the instrument.
The dimensions of your power supply as well as an outline diagram are given under
.
Fans cool the power supply by drawing air through the front and exhausting it out the back. The unit
must be installed in a location that allows sufficient space of at least 12 inches (30.5 cm) at the front
and back of the unit for adequate air circulation.
In case of excessive ambient temperature or blockage of airflow at the air inlet or outlet of the
instrument, an over-temperature protection will disable the output to protect the power supply and
device under test.
Moving Instruments
Keysight APS models weigh as much as 82 lbs. (37.3 kg). Always use a sturdy cart or
other suitable device to move the instrument. Two people are required for installation.
Do not lift or move the unit alone. Avoid moving the unit by hand. If unavoidable, lift
only the unit’s chassis; do not lift the unit using the output terminals or front panel.
