Step 4: Install the Software
Software Installation Procedure
1. Install the Embedded Controller (optional)
If your solution contains an Keysight M9036A/M9037A PXIe Embedded Controller, you should now install it
into your Keysight M9018A PXIe 18 Slot Chassis.
1. Make sure the chassis is plugged into your AC mains power (to establish earth ground) and powered OFF.
2. Install the controller into chassis slot 1 as shown in 2x2 MIMO Configuration in a Single PXIe Chassis (page 22) .
3. Power up the chassis.
For greater detail on configuring your Keysight M9018A Chassis and Keysight M9021A PCIe Cable Interface,
download the Keysight Multiple PXIe and AXIe Chassis System Configuration Tool . Save the file to your local
hard drive; do not try to open the file from the Internet location.
2. Install the Software
Install the software in the order indicated in the following table into the embedded controller, or PC if your
solution contains an M9021A PXIe Cable Interface (do not install the M9021A until instructed).
Restart your controller when prompted by the respective software installer.

* Software that is already installed if you ordered the M9036A or M9037A Embedded Controller.
** If you install or upgrade theKeysight 89600 VSA Software after installing the M9391A drivers, you need to run the 89600
VSA Integration utility. Go to Start > All Programs > Keysight > M9391 > 89600 VSA Integration.
3. Cycle Power
Make sure that both your chassis and PC are powered down before you connect them.
