Details
Overvoltage protection restricts the maximum voltage level that the instrument can source. It is in effect when
either current or voltage is sourced.
This protection is in effect for both positive and negative output voltages.
When this attribute is used in a test sequence, it should be set before the turning the source on.
Even with the overvoltage protection set to the lowest value, never touch anything
connected to the terminals of the Model 2450 when the output is on. Always assume that a
hazardous voltage (>30 V
rms
) is present when the output is on. To prevent damage to the
device under test (DUT) and external circuitry, do not set the voltage source to levels that
exceed the overvoltage protection value.
Example
sour:volt:prot prot40
sour:volt:prot?
Set the voltage source protection to 40 V
and query the value. The output is:
PROT40
