C5 AND C5C KAYE CORNER CHAIRS
(effective 2/24/03)
These are the user instructions
for the C5 and C5C Kaye Corner Chairs.
All persons who set-up or adjust the
unit should first read these entire
instructions. Please store these
instructions for future reference.
USE
The Kaye Corner Chairs are
designed for children who need support
of the head, trunk, and pelvis in order
to develop an upright sitting posture
and to align the head and trunk.
SIZES AND MODELS
The C5 is the larger of our two
corner chairs sizes. With optional
casters, the C5 becomes the C5C.
SIZE AND WEIGHT LIMITS
The model number is located on
the warning label.
The C5(C) is appropriate for
users from 4 to 8 years old, up to 58
inches or 147 centimeters tall, or who
weigh up to 65 pounds or 29 kilograms.
BOX CONTENTS
The C5(C) is assembled,
inspected, and then partially
disassembled for shipping. The
following should be in the box:
1.
A seat assembly: three cushions that
are attached together with metal bars.
2.
A back assembly: two wooden panels
that are hinged together; these panels
have head cushions attached to the top
edges.
3.
A tray assembly: a tray with two
triangular-shaped tray sides attached.
4.
A base: a flat, wooden panel with 20
holes.
5.
A hardware bag containing four of
each of the following: screws; small,
lock-washers; and large, flat-washers.
6.
If you ordered the C5C, there should
also be an inner box with the following
in it: 4 ea. casters; 16 ea. short
bolts; and 16 ea. lock washers.
SEAT TO SIDE ASSEMBLY
Refer to the diagram and attach
the back and seat assemblies to each
other as follows:
1.
Identify the back assembly and
rotate the back panels so that the
vinyl head cushions
face each other
,
and the panels form about a 90-degree
angle.
2.
Identify the seat assembly. Remove
the knob and washer from the right edge
of the seat and the thumb screw from
the left edge.
3.
Place the seat, vinyl side up,
between the two sides. When doing this,
route the belt around the back cushion,
so that it rests on the seat cushion.
4.
Guide the two screws that protrude
from the right seat edge through two of
the holes in the right back panel. When
doing this, select the set of holes
that place the seat at the desired
height (Note: raise the headrests in
order to position the seat above the
fifth set of holes.).
5.
Place the washer and “seat knob” on
the front screw that should now project
through the right side, but leave the
knob very loose--just start it onto the
screw. (The rear screw stabilizes the
seat and requires no knob.)
6.
Insert the thumb screw through the
corresponding hole in the left back
panel and into the hole in the edge of
the seat. Pinch or squeeze left back
panel into the seat and fully tighten
the thumb screw.
7.
Pinch or squeeze the right back
panel into the seat and fully tighten
the “seat knob.”
BASE TO SIDE ASSEMBLY
Refer to the diagram and attach
the chair assembly, from above, to the
base as follows:
