5.2 Notes for application
In each periodontal treatment, the restoration of an inflammation-free period-
ontium and the prevention of additional periodontal degradation are primary.
This especially hold true for the furcations. To prevent undesired loss of local
substance, the tips should be continuously guided back and forth across the
tooth. The vibrating attachments continue to process the surface of the tooth
when the handpiece is not moved in contrast to dental instruments.
The pressure should be as slight as possible (about 0.3 N = 30 g). The root sur-
face can be processed with vertical and angled or transverse movements. This
makes it easier to in difficult-to-reach areas. To process smooth surfaces, your
set contains an attachment based on the perio tip with a , diamond coated but-
ton (tip no. 27, 27 A). This large attachment can be used to remove large and
hard calculus from inaccessible surfaces such as in deep, vertical recesses, and
to process very large root cone cavities as can be found in many teeth.
