NOTE
Malfunction caused by the infrared data transmission.
Since the data is transmitted to the DIAGNOdent display 2191 by infrared
light, external influences can cause malfunctions. Fluorescent lights can gen-
erate a similar signal that reduces the range. This greatly depends on the
type of fluorescent lamps, and also the ballast.
Observe the following points:
4
If possible, do not expose the receiver to direct illumination from fluorescent
lights or strong light sources.
4
Fluorescent lamps generate a great deal of interference radiation in the first
10 minutes after they are switched on. Wait for 10 minutes.
4
Approximately align the DIAGNOdent display 2191 with the
DIAGNOdent pen 2190.
4
Depending on the distance, there should be a direct line of sight between
the two devices.
4
Switch off other infrared transmitters (such as a laptop with IrDA).
4
Ensure that the distance between the two devices is not too great.
4
The antenna symbol will tell you if malfunctions have arisen.

4
If the interference is too great, switch off the sources of the disturbance
(fluorescent lights, IrDA, etc.).
