5.
Ease off
and the chainstopper will take the load.
6.
Pull out
the crank lever until the pin disengages the chainwheel dog.
7.
Push
the crank lever to furthermost counterclockwise position and re-engage with
the chainwheel.
8.
Repeat
the cycle, progressively bringing in the anchor.
9.
Secure
the anchor in the roller.
Capstan (Warping Drum) Operations
The Capstan (warping drum) can be used independently of the chainwheel. This is ideal
for handling mooring lines, docking lines, or a second anchor.
To use the Capstan:
1.
Check
the pawl is engaged with the chainwheel.
2.
Insert the crank lever in the clutch nut and
back off
in a counterclockwise
direction until it stops.
3.
The Capstan (warping drum) will now operate while the chainwheel remains
stationary.
4.
Take several turns of line around the drum in a
clockwise
direction. Ensure tailing
line is kept level to avoid a “riding turn”.
5.
While pulling on the line tail, press the “
UP
” footswitch. The Capstan will rotate
in a clockwise direction.
6.
Increasing or decreasing the load on the tail, while holding the “
UP
” footswitch
will increase/decrease the rate at which the line will be hauled in.
7.
Extra turns around the drum will increase the grip and require less load on the tail.
CAUTION
Ensure that footswitch is not operated accidentally while extra turns are being
taken.
KEEP FINGERS CLEAR.
CAUTION
DO NOT put so many turns on the drum that easing the load on the tail will not
allow the line to slip on the drum. THREE turns is usually maximum.
