A small amount of water should remain in the bowl after flushing.
Access
to the Forward Machinery Space and vacuum tanks and vacuum pumps is through
a hatch in the Master Stateroom. The holding tank and discharge pump are located in the
same compartment. The overboard discharge seacock is located under the holding tank.
The dockside discharge, with an engraved faceplate labeled ‘
WASTE
’ is located on the
Portuguese Bridge. Refer to Figure 15 – Top Down View – Upper Deck.
The VacuFlush® System aboard the Krogen 58’ is designed to operate using a minimum
of fresh water – 1.5 pints (.7 L) per flush. This could possibly result in waste matter being
‘stranded’ in the discharge line between the toilet and the holding tank. Therefore,
provided a sufficient supply of fresh water is aboard, a periodic extended flushing using
3-5 gallons (11.3 L – 18.9 L) is recommended to maintain a clog-free discharge line.
Water Refill Level
One of three (LOW, MID or HIGH) automatic water refill levels can be selected by a
switch setting located under the access cover. Refer to the SeaLand® Owner’s Manual
for further details.
Manual Override
In the event of a power failure, the toilet can be flushed manually by a switch under the
access cover.
TIP
To avoid clogging problems with some household tissues, always use a rapidly
dissolving tissue. To determine a tissue’s ability to dissolve, immerse one square
of tissue in a jar of water and shake five times. The sample tissue should
disintegrate so that it is no longer in one piece.
WARNING
Do not dispose of sanitary napkins or other non-dissolving items in the toilet,
such as facial tissue or paper towels. These items can cause plugging of the
system.
